One of the wines of the vintage will no doubt be the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac. This single vineyard, 100% Grenache release reveals a deep purple colour as well as rich, full-bodied notes of mulled blackberries, exotic spice, liquorice and Provençal garrigue. Possessing ripe tannin, a full, layered middle and a great finish, it will age for 10-15 years. While I always preferred the Barbe Rac in the past, the quality of the Croix de Bois cuvee continues to soar and at this point, I think the two cuvees are neck and neck in terms of quality. — 93-95 Points, Robert Parker
