Built in 1770, Chateau La Bastide is nestled in the forested north end of the Corbières appellation. Since 1989, Bastide has been owned by Anne-Marie and Guilhem Durand who have dedicated themselves to developing quality wine by modernising the facilities and by uprooting and replacing vines. Most of their vineyards are situated around Corbières, but they also cultivate 70 acres of grapes in the Hauterive district just a few miles away. This is where the old vine Syrah is grown. It’s one of the best values in VDP Syrah, delivering superb flavour and quality for a reasonable price. Packed with ripe and ‘preserve’ aromas of luscious cassis, black cherry and purple plum, this wine does not hold back. A truly bold-flavoured wine that conquers the palate and lingers with a fruit-filled finish.
