Born into a family of winegrowers, Paul Pillot is the 3rd generation to foster the family passion. John-Baptiste Pillot, who was born in 1858 in Chassagne-montrachet, was a cooper craftsman by trade. At the same time, he cultivated a small vineyard. At around 1900, he gave up making barrels to concentrate on viticulture. His two sons Alphonse and Henri (Pauls father) who was born in 1904, succeeded him. The two brothers worked side by side with their father, after the 1914-1918 war they took over the domaine, extended the vineyard area and began marketing the wine in bottles. In 1953 Henri separated from his brother and established his own domaine which was passed on to his son Paul who was born in 1947. Paul has further developed the domaine purchasing prestigious parcels in a number of 1er crus.
Today the domaine has 13 hectares of vineyards, producing 5000 cases, and the new generation has taken the reigns. Young and enthusiastic Thierry now looks after vinification, and has already put his stamp on the wines which have wonderful balance , texture and purity.
