Francis Usseglio left Italy in 1931 and became a vineyard worker in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. In 1948 he had the opportunity to purchase 8 hectares and thus the family domaine was established. Hi son Pierre succeeded him and expanded the domaine purchasing more land. Today it covers 21 hectares divided among 15 different vineyard plots, and is managed by Pierres two sons Jean-Pierre and Thierry. Over half of the vines are over 60 years of age with the balance around thirty years old.
This small domaine is now one of the most talked about in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, having produced what are arguably the appellations finest wines for the last 3 or 4 years.
