Jamet is to Cote-Rotie what Salon is to Champagne; a very well kept secret held in ridiculously high regard only by the true cognoscenti. Brothers Jean-Paul, Corrin and son Loic tend a total of 7 ha of vines spread across 25 lieu-dits in Cote-Rotie, producing ethereal and divinely majestic wine without any regard to vintage at all. Most of what they make is bottled as a single wine, their estate Cote-Rotie, a philosophy much like the fabled Jean-Louis Chave`s Hermitage wines.
Traditionalists to the end, Domaine Jamet is absolutely dedicated to the appellation and their new winery, located on the cold plateau above the slope is gravity fed to minimise handling and pumping over of the wines. New oak is very controlled here and the brothers have a complete and intimate understanding of the terroirs of Cote-Rotie. Perhaps that is why so many agree that their`s is the most complete and perfect of all the wines of the appellation. And all that for a very fair price indeed.
